LiC Poly Fest

Though this was quite a while ago, I haven't really found the time to actually blog about it.

Poly Fest was held at the Hale Aloha courtyard at UH Manoa and it showcased the Polynesian culture through music, dance, and activities. Tons of people of Polynesian background from the dorms as well as the community joined together to represent their cultures and share it with the rest of the community.

While there, a variety of languages were spoken. A lot of English as well as Tongan and Samoan were spoken. Personally, it was hard to distinguish the languages, only by what the people looked like was I able to differentiate the differences in language. It was quite an experience. Their style of song and dance we closely related, but not the same. They were both similar to Hawaiian; doing what seemed to me a share in cultural practices.

The event is held every year and should be viewed by all. It helps keep the culture alive in the Pacific and it is something that should be shared.
