Speaking to the Soul: Translating Bibles

In this chapter of Consequences of Contact, we see translators being trained to convert the Bible into every language possible in order to get it to reach as many people as possible - all with the goal of saving souls. Well educated people are sent out to remote parts of the world to live for years in villages, possibly training locals to be translators, adding to a body of work by documenting local languages, making dictionaries, and eventually translating Bibles. With the complete belief that translating the Bible into one's "Heart Language" will make them understand the Word of God and save their souls, translators go out to save. Yet problems are noted everywhere - the translators don't quite understand the language and can't make accurate translations, locals asking for guidance on how to translate end up providing an anglicized version of the language with grammatical structures that normally wouldn't be found. These are some problems that were eventually noticed and corrected, but are there any other problems with translating into a completely different language, alien to ears?
